Well, I just realized that i haven't posted ANYTHING since the end of November..eek! The whole part about starting a blog was to make consistent posts to look back on..well here's to a new start.
Since November..
We had a wonderful Christmas, followed by the birth of our daughter Makenna on December 29th, 2010 @ 9:00am (scheduled c section)
There is nothing worse than only being able to see and feed your baby every 3 hours with her hooked up to monitors and an iv in her little arm. No parent wishes for anything to be wrong with their child...we found out that Mak's oxygen levels were dropping and her heart was having pre-mature atrial contractions (skipping a beat). She was at LMH until Dec 30th, that evening the ITT came to get her (Infant Transport Team) from Children's Hospital.
It was sad to see her being taken to another hospital, rather than be with her parents, but we knew she'd get the best once there. The hardest thing for me was to see her go, and be in a maternity ward with no baby. Daddy & Aunty went with her. It took about 2 hours before i calmed down enough to breathe and make the first call to Children's. They gave me a direct number to the NICU and the phone ring beside your baby's bed so you can talk to the nurse taking care of your child. They said she was doing good, and a nice cozy ride over and they were having the cardiologist come check her out in the morning & doing a echocardiograph to check things out. I was then able to talk to B who was beside her the whole time.

It was nice to talk to B. He was so reassuring that everything was going to be okay, and said the doctors at Children's are amazing! B and Aunty got to Children's a few minutes after Mak arrived. He said there were doctors and specialists checking her out instantly and talked to him about what they were going to do as far as exams go, when they were doing it, and let him know right away the results. It made me feel a lot better knowing he was there & was so impressed with everything. He said she was the biggest baby in the NICU, Mak had a neighbour who weighed 375grams when she was 3705grams at birth. Think of buying deli meat?!? I couldn't imagine, and all the doctors wondered why she was there because she was such a big pink baby..for them to normally see atleast.

B and Aunty left C.Hosp. in the early hours of the morning & B came back to LMH to stay with me. I was able to be discharged the following day (Dec 31st) so we could be with Mak. It was a quiet ride to C.Hosp..I just couldn't believe everything that was going on. One thing i did know is that i wouldn't have been able to do it without B. He was amazing through everything! When I was upset and lost for words, he was there comforting me and bringing ease to the situation. We knew everything would be okay soon enough.
We got to C.Hosp just in time for me to feed Mak. The Dr. said she wasn't doing well with formula, just vomiting every time they tried to feed her. She was a very easy baby to bf, and apparently that's all she needed. She was able to keep it down and kept getting better from there..
We never thought we would spend out New Years Eve at Children's Hospital...It was a quiet evening with our new baby. She was able to be unhooked from her IV and monitors that night, and spend it with us. The nurses at C.Hosp were able to give us a parents room so we could stay at the hospital with her. It doesn't happen too frequently with parents from the lower mainland getting a room at the NICU because they are held for out of town parents.
Mak got her last dose of antibiotics at 6am and we were told she'd be discharged later this morning (Jan 1st, 2011) and was doing great. All her tests came back with no known abnormalities of her heart, everything was functioning as it should (still a skipped beat now and then..but nothing like 2 days ago) & the Dr couldn't hear a missed beat at her last cartiologist exam. We were free to go after her car seat & hearing test which were both passed.
WE ARE ON OUR WAY HOME!!!!!!!!
Well..that's about where it all began. We have 2 gorgeous, healthy girls! What more can we ask for?
This should bring myself a little more up to date..will try to be more consistent with this whole writing thing..
